We set out in 2004 with a common cause, With our loving and affectionate hearts, For innocent children Whose path will cross that of our daughters and sons. Believing in miracles and preserving our childish parts, Without any identity concerns, And thinking of help as a form of art Volunteers WE are. We decided to volunteer for children in a friendly discussion in 2003. That year we learned about motherhood. And that very year, we were moved by the stories of children proctected under Turkish Social Service and Child Protection Institution. We opted not to be like those who listened to the stories of innocent children and felt sorry only for a few minutes. First, we chose close nursery houses and talked to their directors. After long negotiations, we learned about what to do as well as how to do. We attended trainings offered by the employees of the Institution. Then we established voluntary teams for various nursery houses. We visit Bahçelievler Nursery House (0-6 age), Fatih Nursery House (7-12 age) under Istanbul Social Services twice a month; and Hamiyet Feridun Sözen Sevgi Evi (2-12) in Çanakkale every two months. Thanks to the initatives of our friends in Bursa, we will also begin with our voluntary visits to nursery houses in this city in January, 2009. Our mission is to find volunteers in every city with the help of university students studying there. In this respect, our current effort will include Zonguldak and Çanakkale besides Bursa. Our activities range from studying, watching films, chitchatting, solving puzzles to painting and playing together. Moreover, we occasionally organize cultural activities such as theater, cinema and environmental visits. We have an active team that works with people supportive in the areas of social activities, health and education. Our team is growing with new participants, bringing new volunteers for our children day by day. We aim at providing these children as much opportunity as we could to our own sons and daughters, whose paths, we believe, will cross one day. We would like to give a chance to these children. We look for private courses for the ones who will have university entrance exam. Moreover, we try to take care of their health problems. We do reparations in their houses, improve the conditions in their libraries, computer rooms and dormitories through the financial help of our sponsors. By doing projects for some private corporations allocating a part of their budgets for social services, we act as a bridge between corporations and volunteers. We keep in touch with children who are sent to orphanages due to limit of age and we try to be with them on special days. We help siblings living in separate nursery houses to get together and see each other more often. We are in full cooperation and harmony with the administrators of Social Services Instiution as well as nursery house directors. We would like to proceed with our efforts throughout our lives.
